The Haliburton County
Horsemen’s Association is a non-profit horse club located in
Haliburton County,
Ontario.
The HCHA runs four Gymkhana Shows a year where members compete in three
age
divisions to earn points for year end awards. We also run four
Miniature Horse
shows on the same dates. All shows, unless otherwise noted, are held at
the
Minden Fairgrounds on Bobcaygeon Road
in Minden.
The Minden Fairgrounds has two riding rings: a sand ring for the
gymkhana
events and a grass ring where the Miniature events are held. Shows
normally take
place on the second Sunday of May, June, July and August*.
![]() PLEASE READ THE SHOW RULES! - Exhibitors who are in violation of the rules may be excused at the discretion of the Steward. The Miniature shows will be conducted according the Rules and Regulations of the American Miniature Horse Association, ‘R’ division. Horses (and ponies) not meeting this criteria may be permitted at the discretion of the Show Steward. You must be a member of the H.C.H.A. to participate in any of our horse events and you must also carry your own liability insurance.This rule is strictly enforced. You will be asked to produce evidence of insurance before you are allowed to compete in our events. Please download and complete the appropriate Class List and bring it, and the class fee, with you to the show. Forms will also be available at the show from the Show Secretary but it would help us greatly if forms were completed ahead of time. ![]() Visit us on Facebook for photos and discussions. Show Dates:
*The August show falls on the 4th Sunday of the month and follows the Haliburton County Fair on August 20th and 21st. The Agricultural Society will have their food booth open and some of the Fair vendors may still be on site. Gymkhana class fees for 2010 are $5.00 per day for each horse and rider/handler combination. The Miniature Show class fees will be posted soon.
Food is not normally available at the Fairgrounds.
Restaurants are located less then 5 minutes away. Shows run rain or shine. In the event a show is cancelled due to dangerous weather conditions (high winds/thunderstorms, etc) the Executive reserves the right to schedule a makeup show in September or October. |
